The organization embodies legal gaming in 46 states, including more than 1,000 casinos, online gambling operators, and their suppliers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">September is the yearly time when the AGA and its members highlight their efforts to promote responsible gaming.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"main-blockquote\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Together, we can promote gaming literacy and consumer education, elevate employee training, and work with partners to advance our understanding of responsible gambling,&#8221; the AGA said.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">U.S. consumers are spending more on gambling than ever before. Gaming revenue from commercial operations reached a record $72 billion in 2024. Tribal gaming revenue was $43.9 billion in the 2024 fiscal year, according to data compiled by the National Indian Gaming Commission, the federal regulator of tribal casinos.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Sustainability in Focus<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Gambling is more widespread and mainstream than it ever has been in the U.S. The proliferation of legal sports betting, which less than a decade ago was largely confined to Nevada, has attracted many millions of new customers to the legal gaming environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">That&#8217;s a good thing for the AGA and its members, but the group says responsible gaming is critical to a sustainable market. September 2025 is the AGA&#8217;s 27th year of promoting responsible gaming through the Responsible Gaming Education Month (RGEM).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The AGA says its members are &#8220;committed to building a sustainable market and ensuring bettors have a safe, fun experience.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"callout\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">For the 2025 RGEM, the AGA is encouraging casinos and sportsbooks to write an op-ed in their local newspaper that details their responsible gaming focus. Other ideas include interviewing employees who can talk about how they prioritize responsible play while on the job and sharing the video on the company&#8217;s social media accounts.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The AGA is also asking casinos and online gaming platforms to promote the group&#8217;s responsible gaming campaigns, including &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.americangaming.org\/play-smart-from-the-start\/\">Play Smart From the Start<\/a>&#8221; and &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.haveagameplan.org\/\">Have A Game Plan<\/a>.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Problem Gambling<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The number of Americans experiencing gambling problems is thought to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/is-sports-betting-increasing-problem-gambling-study-suggests-so\/\">increasing<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In February, a <a href=\"https:\/\/today.ucsd.edu\/story\/study-reveals-surge-in-gambling-addiction-following-legalization-of-sports-betting\">study<\/a> from the University of California San Diego&#8217;s Qualcomm Institute and School of Medicine revealed a &#8220;dramatic increase in sports betting and gambling addiction help-seeking&#8221; since the U.S. Supreme Court in May 2018 overturned the federal ban on single-game sports betting outside of Nevada.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"main-blockquote\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Sports betting has become deeply embedded in our culture,&#8221; said study researcher Matthew Allen. &#8220;From relentless advertising to social media feeds and in-game commentary, sportsbooks are now everywhere.
