ESPN<\/em> and the NFL have announced a deal where the sports network will acquire the NFL Network<\/em> and other media assets owned by the league, including the popular RedZone and NFL Fantasy.<\/p>\n The NFL will get a 10% equity stake in ESPN.<\/em> The all-sports network will merge the NFL fantasy product into its existing fantasy platform, which will improve the product and broaden its reach, the company said in a statement.<\/p>\n Today\u2019s announcement paves the way for\u00a0the world\u2019s leading sports media brand\u00a0and America\u2019s most popular sport to deliver an\u00a0even more compelling experience for NFL fans, in a way that only ESPN<\/em> and Disney can,\u201d said Disney CEO Robert Iger.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n \u201cCommissioner Goodell and the NFL have built outstanding media assets,\u00a0and these transactions will add to consumer choice, provide\u00a0viewers with even greater convenience and quality, and expand the breadth\u00a0and value\u00a0proposition of Disney\u2019s streaming ecosystem.\u201d<\/p>\n ESPN<\/em> will own and operate NFL Network<\/em>, and plans to integrate it into ESPN\u2019s<\/em> upcoming direct-to-consumer service. The company is a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. RedZone will join The Walt Disney Company\u2019s linear networks portfolio.<\/p>\n The companies also announced a second agreement. The NFL will license NFL content to ESPN<\/em> along with additional intellectual property and assets. In total, ESPN\u2019s<\/em> platforms will license an additional three NFL games per season to air on NFL Network.<\/em> ESPN<\/em> will adjust its overall NFL game schedule, with four games shifting to the NFL Network,<\/em> which will continue to present seven games per season. NFL Films<\/em> programming is also being licensed to ESPN.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n “Since its launch in 2003, NFL Network<\/em> has provided millions of fans unprecedented access to the sport they love,\u201d said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. \u201cWhether it was debuting “Thursday Night Football,” televising the combine, or telling incredible football stories through original shows and breaking news, NFL Network<\/em> has delivered.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe Network\u2019s sale to ESPN<\/em> will build on this remarkable legacy, providing more NFL football for more fans in new and innovative ways,\u201d Goodell said.<\/p>\n The announcement came a few days after ESPN Bet announced a new feature for users that melds fantasy sports with sports betting, called FanCenter.<\/strong><\/p>\n The feature is a personalized hub within ESPN Bet. It allows users to easily find game markets, curated player props, and custom parlay offerings based on their favorite teams, players, and ESPN<\/em> fantasy football rosters.<\/p>\n The new hub is powered by ESPN<\/em> and ESPN Bet\u2019s account linking technology.<\/p>\n “FanCenter introduces a completely new level of personalization for ESPN BET players and represents our biggest product leap yet,” said Penn Entertainment CTO Aaron LaBerge. “It taps into our players’ fandom in smart, creative ways while connecting seamlessly with ESPN’s<\/em> industry-leading fantasy football platform.
