(Image: X)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a source told <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/\">Casino.org<\/a><\/em> that on Dec. 31, 2019, Chapur\u2019s friend \u201cChris\u201d was traveling by car to Hard Rock Punta Cana &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/hard-rock-informed-of-pariente-money-misdeeds-in-2020-says-whistleblower\/\">a casino hotel recently ensconced<\/a> in controversy &#8212; when he struck and killed an unidentified Venezuelan woman. The woman and her brother-in-law were traveling by motorcycle on the road on which Chris was driving. The source said the car, a Toyota, was \u201ctotaled.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout\">\n<p>Following the accident, Chris supposedly called Chapur, who later arrived at the scene of the accident. The informer added that Chris was taken to a nearby police station, but wasn&#8217;t booked on charges. The source, a former employee of Hard Rock Punta Cana, also said he was able to \u201cfix everything up\u201d on behalf of Chapur\u2019s associate, meaning Chris was released on his own recognizance with a pledge to return later that morning.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The informant also told <em>Casino.org<\/em> that Chris, who is known to travel between Miami and the Dominican Republic, frequenting the Hard Rock casino, likely spent between $7,000 and $8,000 on the incident, including graft to local police, medical bills, a new motorcycle for the young man injured in the accident, and costs associated with sending the deceased woman\u2019s body to her family in Venezuela.<\/p>\n<h2>Hard Rock Taking Hard Line on DR Goings On<\/h2>\n<p>In a statement provided to <em>Casino.org<\/em>, Hard Rock says it\u2019s not taking lightly the allegations of concealment and potential vehicular manslaughter.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"main-blockquote\">\n<p>The nature of these allegations are very serious and we strongly encourage anyone with evidence of criminal activity to report it to the appropriate authorities,\u201d according to the company statement. \u201cWhile Hard Rock will not comment further on this matter at this time, we remain committed to honesty and integrity as part of our brand standard and should the situation arise, we would cooperate fully with law enforcement in any investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That\u2019s in line with the company\u2019s approach to recent allegations of chicanery at the Dominican casino, which led to the suspensions of multiple staffers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/hard-rock-suspends-pariente-commences-internal-investigation\/\">including high-ranking executive<\/a> Alex Pariente.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_355874\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-355874\" data-style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-355874 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" alt=\"Punta Cana\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1499\" data-src=\"http:\/\/www.chuckwardrealestate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/HRPC.jpg\"><figcaption>Hard Rock Hotel &amp; Casino Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. (Image: Instagram)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Hard Rock Punta Cana is owned and operated by a corporation known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketscreener.com\/insider\/ROBERTO-CHAPUR-A0LTML\/\">Palace Resorts<\/a> &#8212; an entity at which Roberto Chapur &#8212; Rodrigo\u2019s father &#8212; serves as president. Palace pays a licensing fee to Hard Rock for the rights to use that iconic brand on the Dominican venue.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout\">\n<p>Hard Rock International didn&#8217;t comment on whether it\u2019s reassessing its relationship with the Dominican casino resort &#8212; a venue a separate source told <em>Casino.org<\/em> generated a paltry $7 million in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) last year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>An interesting footnote regarding the Chapurs, Pariente, and Hard Rock Punta Cana is that multiple sources have told <em>Casino.org <\/em>that Roberto Chapur has long opposed Pariente\u2019s involvement with the venue. Rather, a cozy relationship with Rodrigo is said to have extended Pariente\u2019s time there, potentially paving the way for malfeasance.<\/p>\n<h2>Rodrigo Chapur: A Colorful Character<\/h2>\n<p>In addition to his purported role in a Hollywood-style scheme that ensured his friend wasn&#8217;t ensnared in a Dominican criminal scandal, Rodrigo Chapur is said to have a vivid reputation. That includes being known as a frequent gambler at Hard Rock Punta Cana. That\u2019s something that wouldn\u2019t fly in some parts of the US where some operators prohibit staffers from wagering at their places of employment, even when they&#8217;re off the clock.<\/p>\n<p>Chapur\u2019s reputed gambling proclivities intersect with Pariente\u2019s alleged flouting of money transfer and marker collection protocols.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout\">\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/hard-rock-exec-pariente-let-markers-go-unpaid-took-bookies-action-say-sources\/\">the outset of the Pariente imbroglio<\/a>, a source told <em>Casino.org<\/em> that Chapur was sent to Tennessee to collect $2 million in cash from a Hard Rock Punta Cana client who didn\u2019t pay his marker while in the Dominican Republic.
